    Chevrolet Design Studio, Detroit 1970. I'm the goofy looking kid in the glasses. We were the Soap Box Derby "foreign" champs, ( I represented Guam) headed for Akron, Ohio & the All American Soap Box Derby. We toured the design studio and the garage where they kept all the prototype Corvettes. I got to sit in a couple of the Corvette prototypes that I've only seen since in photos. Way frickin cool! I even got yelled at for running a 4 speed thru the shift pattern! LOL
    We met Ed Cole that day, not sure if the man in this pic was him. Also went to a picnic at his home in Grosse Pointe, hosted by his wife. I believe her name was Dolly.
    I had NO idea of the significance of meeting the father of the small block Chevy. A special day for sure!

    American Flyer! Mine were "disposed of" while I was in the service. I still miss 'em.

    I always liked American Flyer over Lionell, mainly because I never liked the look of a third rail and I liked the scale better too...
