  1. Re. post #42475: At that time New York's 23rd. Street was unique in that it had some corners that would make skirts blow up. I think this is where the expression "23 Skidoo!" came from. Guys would stand near strategic corners where unsuspecting ladies would reveal (in those days) a shocking display of leg. Cops would patrol these areas and make the guys "Skidoo!" ("Scram!").

I looks like a 1958 Mercury Meteor Rideau.

Yes, it certainly could be a Meteor Rideau. I have seen one with this side treatment and one with the side trim that one usually sees on the Fords and from the angle in the photo, it could just as easily be a Meteor as a Fairlane.

  15. I always like those '58s, doesn't seem like too many are around anymore. This one's very nice.

Is it me or the H.A.M.B.? As of about page 2116 I'm seeing a random pattern of red Xs and or no picture. Some of the Red Xs I can open by right clicking-others don't respond to that. It's not consistent within a post either. Some pictures are there; others are not or showing the red X. Haven't had this problem until today and even at that as I went back to see where I left off a couple days ago I noticed that as I repeated a couple pages, many of the images I had previously seen didn't show up. ???

its because people probably uploaded them to photobucket to post them here and then they deleted them off of their photobucket account. it happens a lot. Usually it says something about photobucket in a little box though like "image is no longer available"
