This appears to be Los Angeles Union Station and a Santa Fe Chief "F Unit" loco. There was something in the imbedded info about this being 1948. I always wondered if that had ever happened :)

Tools were sure simpler back then...a screwdriver, a 5 pound sledge, pair of pliers, jack and an "X" lug wrench,..but a pipewrench?? or even better...HEDGECLIPPERS?????

I remember as a kid back in the day, watching ABC's "Wide World of Sports" and seeing the figure 8 races they were broadcasting from Islip in black and white. Good times..

I used to hang out at a shop named "Cherry's Muffler shop" in Muncie In. early 60's. I wonder if this shot is connected?

This wasn't all that uncommon. My father backed a train out onto Rte 128 in Boston years ago. State police wanted to see his license:)

Good thing the wire was there to stop this one!

Is this car a Lincoln? If so, I've only seen a few like this. It reminds me of a Vicky with a coupe trunk tacked on. Wonder why no one has tried this with a 32 Ford? Handsome design. Anyone know for sure? Later, Gary

No. It is a 32 Hupmobile. Photo taken outside of the Chicago Auto Show.
