Good old sears catalogs. Me and my friends were building minibikes and we ordered a bunch of centrifical clutches, sprockets and chain from them. You had to include shipping costs but never gave the amount. So we would end up getting a check for two cents or 4 cents in return. The looks the lady tellers at the bank gave us were killer when we went to cash them LOL.
The Sears catalogue .......what memories. I sat on the porch swing each day with my uncles and looked through the toy section starting in the summer ....picking out what I wanted for Christmas ....I had to poke them in the side because they were not listening as they read the paper. I dont think I ever got anything I picked out ......but a bag of lil green Army men from the 5 & 10 store kept me goin . As the Christmas carol goes , "Toyland , toyland , magical mystical toyland , once you cross its borders , you can never ever return . " I dont think I ever crossed its borders ....from model building to today ...I'm still playing with cars..lol.
