    I was a construction wireman not a lineman but we did some linework. Close to that high voltage is a level where every move needs to be planned and smooth...

    I worked for Western Union on a traveling crew of 5 0r sometimes 6 just taking down copper wire.
    Our pole lines were along the Railroad rightaway. Sometimes in the middle of the dessert. Power was always on top. We took down miles of wire a day and almost never wore a belt and never a hard hat. Climb up hand over hand, throw one leg over a cross arm, clip the tie wires, leave the insulators, throw the line(s) over the side, come back after lunch and roll up whatever we got down in the morning. Rinse-repeat.
