My dad bought this for me I think around 1972 or so from GEMCO, kinda like an early Walmart. It's a George Barris Custom Super Stocker. Just finished it about 6 months ago. Still need to die a red and blue stripe on the seat to make it original. I still need to find a kickstand for it also.

This thread got me started on restoring my Lil' Indian back in '07. I recently finished it. The build progress can be found on Oldmimibikes.com

  8. While minibikes are a current subject of discussion, I would like to ask a question.

Does anyone know anything about this electric mini bike?

I just picked up one. I don't know yet if it works at all. I will have to have a key made for it, and I will then have to figure out how to charge it up again.

The electric motors are built in the front and rear wheel hubs so as to be invisible.

Under the seat are 2 electronic boxes that have stickers to say
"24 VOLT CONTROLLER". One is hooked to the small cable that runs to the front wheel and the other is hooked to the cable to the rear wheel.
The cables enter the wheels through the ends of the hollow axles.

The battery pack is the same size as a car battery, but it consists of 4 individual smaller cells held together by the battery mount.
I suppose it must be 4 cells, each with 12V.

I tried several times to search for the maker, or any other owners, but the only pic I could find led me to a website that advertises electric cars, but no mention or pics of this minibike.

I don't know the name of it, or the year it was made, or anything else.

DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THESE?

I WANT TO FIX THIS, AND USE IT. ARE THERE REPAIR PARTS OUT THERE?

WHO CAN TELL ME ABOUT THIS THING?
    THANKS!

In 1960 I had a caper cycle that was made in Walla Walla Wash. It had a West Bend 700 and I ran the wheels off of it. I made a trade in 1964 for a '39 Ford 2dr with a '53 Merc in it. I have never seen another to date.

Never seen one but I have had some experience with small wheeled electric things.
You need to charge the batteries even if you take them out and charge them with a car charger. Disconnect them at least from the vehicle electrical system. They may be no good.

Jumper the key switch but figure out what is what first.

Take the chain or belt off untill its running.

remember- "Sparks are good and fire is your friend":D

  16. I have a Taco 44. Will have to dig out the picture of me riding it - in 1968!
All this talk makes me want to run home and ride it. My dad traded a room a/c unit and a bb gun for it in 68.

I just sold a Z-50. I got it in a trade with no motor and a messed up CT70. Seems the kids mom backed over the CT70 and taco'd the frame. It was a fairly rare version with a hand clutch and a 4 speed (72? I think). So naturally I dropped the 70 motor and the bigger wheels in the Z50 and Man that thing hauled ass! Scared the shit outta me!

i don't currently have a minibike, but when i was about 6 or 7 my dad bought me a rupp roadster mini bike.
wish i still had that sucker....it was fast for what it was....but then again, was only 6 or 7 years old. 30 mph would have been fast at that age.
It had a techumseh 3 horse on it, if i remember right.

currently i have a 1973 kawasaki 100 enduro, with 1100 original miles on it. the whole bike is like brand new...even the original tires.

I'm still looking for a green Lil Indian deluxe model with the lights, fold down handle bars, 2spd jack shaft and front and rear shocks. Worked my butt off mowing lawns for it and it got ripped off.
