Don't know how I have not stumbled into this thread until now, but I am glad I did...
From 2nd Indianapolis Auto show in 1951...

Great thread. I wonder how many folks were like me and attended these shows and events with out a camera. I wasn't a camera freak in those days but I certainly try today. The old pic's indoors were so dark. Any how............thanks to those of you that took pictures so that the rest of us can really see back in time.

I think that any of us that did take a few pics wish that we had taken more, but it was a hassle. The average consumer camera setup required carrying around extra rolls of film and flashbulbs. Add that to the cost of processing and it was a bit expensive. The flash was never effective in a big, relatively dark room like a show, so that was discouraging too. Very few people in those days had good SLR equipment either. Younger people who have only experienced built-in flash and/or digital photography do not know how good they have it now.

 

One thing I noticed from this thread is that we were alot thinner in those days.. cool pics by the way..

I think this was at the Ram Rods Washington DC Armory show. That shot is from the back entrance side where we brought the cars in.

 

I could sit around all day and look at old photos!

Because so many pictures are missing, somebody odda delete the whole darn thing....IMO

That flamed T roadster belonged to Guy Preston from Ypsilanti MI.I took a picture of it in his yard in 1968 when it was for sale for $2500.For some reason I got a double exposure and this is the only remaining pic I have of the car.

 

And even more kooky exhaust! Super cool lil bucket.
