I worked in the plant they built that in for twenty seven years and that stuff oozed out of every nook and cranny and that riveted aluminum and power influenced the hobby...can't deny the connection.

I may volunteer on some of the restoration projects after I retire. They have some good ones here in OKC. It’s different working on aircraft, when you don’t have to.

:D From every thing that I have read, the Lysander was one hell of a work horse.Did a lot of behind the lines work with the French resistance hauling in arms and explosives durning WW2.Hauled in and retrieved a lot of British intelligence folks too.Along with some downed British and American airmen too.
    Good luck.Have fun.Be safe.

This pic is around 1943ish...Victory Aircraft, Malton, Ontario, Canada
This was a Ceremony of of which I am not sure possibly Lancaster Rollout
with people supporting a terrible situation and a few Vintage Cars.

The Large Aircraft is the Avro Lancaster (433 produced in Malton out of 7367 total)
Avro Lancaster was built by Victory Aircraft and Avro Canada in same Malton Plant
This was the Pattern Lanc for Canada to use for replication in production.

In background AC to right is the Avro Anson (753 produced in Malton of 11,020 total)
Avro Anson was built by National Steel Car and Victory Aircraft in same Malton Plant

To left of Anson is the Westland Lysander (225 produced in Malton of 1786 total)
Lysander was built by National Steel Car in same Malton Plant

Avro Arrow designed and built by Avro Canada, Malton, Ontario, (Flew but never went into production due
    to program Cancellation)

Still the same Lysander plant with tooling carried over through several Aviation Companies
and Aircraft lines including a form of experimental US saucer like AC the Avrocar.
After the Arrow cancellation in 1959 the company went on to produce Boats and even an Automobile of
which I was graciously given pictures of...I still to this day recall seeing a Bubbletop Car also related to
Avro but I cannot find it anywhere...

So @jakespeed63 just to recap this post I will say that the relationship of all the above A/C including the Lysander you posted and the Boats and Automobile were all built over the period of 1938/1962 amongst the walls of the same facility in Malton including much of the supporting machinery and tooling as a huge inventory of it remained right until plant closure in 2005. There was also the Avro Jetliner that Howard Hughes was poised to order that did not happen due to cancellation of program...

Also of note examples or pieces of all
    pictured above remain except the
    prototype automobile.
