What do you think. iam kinda of a hack and my vent wings look a bit shity. Also worried about them whistling and getting in the way line of site wise. So should I suffer through getting them right or one piece glass and be done? Don't know why my pics are always sideways and upside down sorry

I like them both ways. But vent windows are nice for riding with the windows down. I can see eliminating them to do away from the extra cost and work. I know this is no help.

Given that this is the traditional custom portion of the site, vent windows will stay put to stay here. I think of Chip Foose and Boyd Coddington when I see vent windows removed and that just makes me puke billet.
All kidding aside, I think vent windows need to stay on a traditional kustom unless the top is chopped so much that they cannot be incorporated into the car without ruining the look of the build.
The effort to get them right will only add to the look of your car.

I think it would be worth the effort to fix them, especially if the car will be a driver. Probably couldn't cost more to fix them than to have new door glass cut to eliminate them.

I say keep em, but shorten them. Maybe by 2" should be enough to balance your chopped window

on my chop top, I preferred the look w/ out the vent window. I know some people will say that's taking the easy way out but don't forget, you still have to figure out and build new tracks.
one llloooooong pc of glass definetly flows w/ a chop top.

Keep them.Door vent windows looks ok,but rear vents look like a bit strange on chopped shoebox...
    So,keep up suffering!

  11. I think it would look better to keep them but move the divider bar forward where the vent window doesn't look to wide. HRP

When I was a smoker, I liked vent windows. When I quit, I didn't care anymore.

I chopped the top on my 51 chevy sedan and made it into a hard top it was harder cutting the doors for a one piece window but I like the long sleek lines of my kustom that way got to do what ever we like

Vent windows (pivot points), curved glass, stainless = Chop-Topping MAGIC!

    The rest is bodywork.

open the vents, open the wing windows turn on the 4/65 a/c and you almost feel like your on a dresser ,

  17. Vent windows were one of the best inventions they put on a car. I love them. I would order them on a new car if they were available. Nothing like riding around with the windows down and a vent window directing air in your face on a hot summer night...

    Traditional customs have vent windows.
One piece door glass and one piece windshields don't belong on 49-51 Mercs.
