The Ford big block ain't a lightweight! F/R Vega box in mine. Seems like quality in the aftermarket on these is all over the place. Steering effort is low, very little road time so far. My 2cents

Borgeson is the best box to get(GM specs)Put one(vega) in my 32(excellent)The 525 box is a little larger but would fit you car better(weight)also GM specs. Get the number for the box from their websight then go to Summit(free shipping)I got my Vega box for 314.00. Pete

  6. I've been using Vega boxes for years. HRP

  7. I used a F.R. Vega box in my '36. Three of them. They're just not strong enough for an iron V8 on top of them.
The life span each of them was about 1500 miles.
Go for the 525, much stronger.

  8. I've used Vega's and 525's
Borgeson Vegas seem to last just fine. The 525 is easier steering but more turns lock to lock. I did not like it in my 32 coupe.

Borgeson will tell you Vegas will handle 2500-2800 pounds. Anything heavier they recommend the 525. The quality of these boxes vary, borgeson even though a little more expensive, I think their quality is the best. I would check out the various companies and then decide.
