Thanks for the memories! I used to drive up there in the 60's from Champaign,Ill when we heard WLS announcing the events.Just Googled U.S.30 Dragstrip clicked on images WOW! Be sure and check out the T-shirt,hope I can get one.

 

Was just talkin bout that 55 Chevy "Blitz" the other day; used to see it run at Byron (Rockford) Dragway all the time in the mid-60's. It was a wild ride and a car I'll never forget. Thanks for bringin this up.

Great pics! Looks like the guy on foot is racing some type of Batmobile/Mustang/A/FXer. Anybody know anything about that car?
