I thought you guys might like to see what I ended up with. Decided to make it into an Excelsior tribute bike.
All hand painted to match a 1914 logo i found, does about 30-35 mph and is a ton of fun.]

I have it listed on e-bay now unfortunately as I need to raise money for other projects. Hopefully I can build another one soon.

Awesome, glad I checked in when I did or I'd have missed this. It's the only trouble with this forum, you see a lot of cool stuff but damn, you also miss a lot of it!!!

Is that an adaptable KIT type of motor? Any info you can share? The Whizzers had a big belt that ran the perimeter of the tire which is kind of funky and cool but has always turned me off, I guess. I really like the dual chain pedal/motor driven setup.....

thanks, yeah its a "kit" motor
its 80cc, if you search motor bike, bicycle motor, motorized bicycle... things like that on e-bay you'll find tons of them

you get everything you need to adapt a bike into a motorized bike, just most of it is pretty generic looking so i tried to make mine look older :)

Cool. I just bought an old Schwinn Heavy-Duti. I think this would be something cool to do with it. Especially since my chrome is kind of rusty and I was thinking of painting it anyway.

Zach, I saw this when Ryan posted it to Jockey Journal. That cycle is cool. You do beautiful work ... and actually get things done! I wonder what the neighbors think of it?

Very cool, Zach - nice work! Good luck with the sale.

I rode a guys (Saphorn from CA) bike at Bonneville last month that had a kit engine on it - He also bought the kit off Ebay. Pretty quick for what it is!

It had skinnier tires on it and was a little scary at higher speeds, but fun! :D

That is cool! I used the same engine on my project called the "Skinny Chopper". I put it together a couple of years ago. It is based on a 20" bike.

Man thats cool I don't know about riding it on piketown road though.

  30. engines are about 150-160 shipped on the bay.
looks like there is a Canadian guy and another selling a ton of them. If someone could get a group deal from one of them I'd be in, even if it was for combined shipping, see I need two.
