Can I utilize a 4"drop axle on my otherwise stock model A without splitting the wishbone? Thanks

There may be a bit of a problem in getting a dropped axle with a perch hole width that will let the bones bolt right up without bending them inwards. Bend them much and it could push the axle far enough forward to bind things up. There may be enough give in the whole thing where this might not be a problem. If not you could maybe put a bit of a kink in the bones to get them to bolt up without strain.

Just a thought , if its a stock A will the brake rods still line up after a 4" drop ?

Usually the mechanicals are pitched when a dropped axle is used in favor of juice brakes of some kind. Not because juice brakes are so wildly better necessarily but because on an A axle the actuator rod coming from the backing plate bolts to an eye on top of the perch which supports it against the pull from the main brake rod that goes back to the cross shaft. If you move the spindle up any amout at all this rod will no longer bolt to its support so it'll just bend instead of operating properly. You have to fab up some sort of mechanical support from the perch or axle to brace the actuator rod . It's possible but not many bother with it.

5wbomber, do You have some pics of that job? I would like to use my "stopping on a dime" brakes and a dropped axle. Are there any fabricated kits or do i have to use my black smith skills?

    Sawracer,.....
Another thing to look out for other than the brake rods is the tie rod and the clerance, the Dropped axle will move up your tie rod (probably above the wishbones),.... you really want to make sure you have enough "Jounce" and "Rebound" ( bare minimun 3" of jounce, 2" rebound ) so if you hit a big enough bump you don't smack the tie rod with the frame,..... or jamb the tie rod between the frame and wishbones, effectivally interfering with your steering,..... if you use a reverse eye spring it will add to the potential problem.
If you are using later spindles with Juice brakes, and try to heat and bend the spindle's steering arms below the wishbones, you will slightly reduce your steering radius,.... and very important, keep a eye on your "Ackerman"

I just did this with my A. B motor and A trans. IT works just fine. If the axle is narrowed, in the dropping process, hooking up mechanicals would be a bitch, I put 46 ford juice brakes on mine. Also tie rod and drag link mods have to be done. With the stock A spindles the balls on the steering arms have to go on the other side, from the top to the bottom. Clearance is TIGHT around the perch. I sent my stuff off to loudpedal to have this done.
