Look at how much slack is in the chain, even with the idler 'tensioner'!!

 

That's more than a bit scary looking with a lot of slack in the chain.

Just as a side note, so many people on here have problems with setting timing re-installing SBC distributors etc. From the photo with the Vette intake that dist. is wired one tooth off. So the advance is hitting the intake and you can't advance it any further ( it should be back towards the fire wall a couple inches and they have number one wire where number 8 should be. Good example of why you check the firing order before pulling stuff apart. Just an observation. I may be wrong but from the photo that is how it looks.
