U joint problem 10 bolt to '86 Caprice driveshaft
I have a shortened '86 Caprice driveshaft and a 10 bolt and I can't find the correct conversion u joint. Believe me, I have looked before asking.

The yoke caps are 1.188 with a width of 3 5/8" between yoke ears and the driveshaft caps are 1.125 with a width of 3 1/8" to the outside of the ring groove.

This doesn't appear to be a 1310/1350 conversion or a 1330/1350 conversion, as far as I can tell from the measurements.
I don't care about greaseable or non, or brand. I just need something that will work.
    Any help really appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Greg

If you can get access to a u joint book, you can look up all the sizes and I have bought 2 joints and switched caps to make odd combos ! Gary

  4. I would think most parts houses like napa would have a u joint book with sizes. I needed one for an explorer rear to a chevy joint and my local parts place looked it up.

    looks like NAPA # 447, a combination of 3R (S-44) and Spicer 1350

Spicer 1350 has 1.188" caps and 3.622" across the caps.
3R has 1.125" caps and 2.560" across the inside of it's inside snap ring grooves.

3R (Saginaw 44) was likely originally held in place w/ injected plastic, replacement joints use snap rings that fit into grooves machined into the caps themselves, which seat against the inside of the yoke's ears.

Yes, the driveshaft caps were retained by plastic.
It looks like I need a 3R 1350 conversion joint, looking like a neapco #11-00530R or equivalent.
Thanks for the help. The inside clips were throwing me.
