The one they pulled up from the ship and put in a swimming pool while they were arranging the publicity?

And while they were making plans, etc bacteria was having lunch and turning everything in the safe to goo?

Wonder what the ticket refund policy is?

Well the one thing they probably couldn't have imagined in 1957
is that 50 years later there would be no Plymouth. Well I'll share
this one with you. A 57 Chrysler New Yorker survivor and just to
go one better its been in Ohio its whole life, rust belt capital. With
nary 23K showing on the clock this has to be one of the most
virgin 392's on the planet. So original that it has "1957 air in the
spare". Still tucked away in Ohio, maybe someday it will be mine.
Just remember you saw it here on the Hamb and it didn't cost
    you a dime...

  7. The city of Tulsa needs the money! Maybe they'll fix some potholes. Has anyone driven on I-44 lately? I was through there today, sounded like I drove over an open manhole....

I had a car recently that was half as old but twice as rusty. Some of the paint held the metal together... now that was some real value for money... :D

so they entombed it in a below-ground concrete vault... and didn't provide for any drainage? Nice job! ;)

They built it like a gunnite swimming pool and it did it's job.....
    It Held Water!!!!

Most of the water looks like it seeped in from the lid. You can see staining down the sides of the vault.

Anybody coming into town for the car dig, after paying our money-grubbing mayor to see a rusted out hulk. Come down to the Mercury Lounge where you can see rusty-out cars displayed daily for free.

    On stage this weekend.

Thank goodness. She says here that they are going to unveil it "as it is". We all sure hope so! If it is in a sealed bag there is still hope that it is in good shape. I 'm trying to fight off the typical cynicismI usually have. II think we all want to be pleasantly surprised.
Actually, the water has only added to the mystery. If the vault had been bone dry and pristine, then there would be no possible surprise at the unveiling. Pulling it out at noon; peeling the cover at 7PM is the plan as I understand it.

They should do another "time capsule" with a toyota camry, they could open it in one year and it'd be more fucked up than that Plymouth :D

Looks more like mud film than rust on the tailfin and bumper and trim. We may be surprised

The latest on the KOTV website is they lifted it 10 feet to let the water drain and it "looked better than we thought" They feel most of the rust in the water is from the exposed beams for the lift that's under the car. Rotten or not, I'm still looking forward to watching it. I hope KOTV has enough bandwidth to handle the onslaught of viewers.

  24. In 1957 times were different,,,,I believe the people in charge of this project gave a lot more thought about building a strong vault to withstand an atomic bomb than water entering thru the cracks,,,,

I am still holding hope that the car is not as bad as we fear,,,but if it is,,,maybe it can be brought back to life,,,,,It happens here on the Hamb on a regular basis,,,,HRP
