If I make templates for my glass how much do I allow for the window run? Or, do I just use the dimensions 26 7/8 front and 30 3/4 for the quarter? Only need width for now. Height will be quite a bit shorter.

One more question. Is the glass square on the corners or rounded off?

The bottom corner in his picture is rounded off. Any older glass shop should have patterns for the stock height glass. Just tell them how much you chopped it and they can cut the glass from their patterns. On my 49 Buick I used the new cut stock glass I got with the car. The window regulators just don't go up as high as they used to.

I like to make window templates out of 1/4 inch tempered Masonite and install them in all the window openings with the channels or rubber seals just to make sure there's no surprises. I have all the side and rear glass tempered in my cars.

  12. One problem that I ran in to was the repro felts were thicker than stock on their back side. Glass cut to pattern was too long. It was tempered, so no sanding. Had to have it recut! To be sure I installed felts, then made a
Masonite template. One side was actually longer than the other. Go figure.

Ok. Thanks guys. I know the glass guy here says he’d rather have templates. I like the Masonite idea.

Another dumb question. How do you get the rear quarter glass back in? I’m making templates and it seems you can’t get the glass in with the felts in place. Very possible I missing something here.
