  6. scan0017.jpg This is my 36 , I've had it since 1979 and built it twice now. Runs a 250 six with auto, 67 nova rear with ( please dont judge me!!) a independent front end. The only thing I want to change yet is the wheels, I love Cragars but not on this one. Just got it back on the road in August, felt great to be back behind the wheel again after a dormant 15 years. The picture of the red version is how it used to be. Mitch. 11896029_10206208993217894_231140128071570361_n.jpg 36 truck.jpg

My 1940 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup, in need of a restoration. I am 16 years old and my grandfather gave me the truck to rebuild, he bought the truck in 1970.

That looks darn close to the paint scheme on my latest find. I've never found a real truck with original paint this nice.

John's getting ready for engine start ceremonies, so I guess I need to get off my duff here. To help out in that regard, next we'll fabricate the battery tray which I don't believe came with the truck when John got it. Here's the best we have for a pattern:

The hold down bracket for the prescribed Group 4 battery was with the truck, so we did some test fitting with the inner fender in place. It is a bit cramped for space, and John expressed concern of the availability of the Group 4 battery. Most local sources only carry the Group 1 in stock, which would also be a better fit.. So out with the old...

I did miss getting in the flat pictures, but here is the freshly folded and welded hold down bracket for the new battery size.

All trimmed and prepped for paint..

Comparing the new to the old...

Next will be the new battery tray.

...and now for the battery tray, shown here cut to size and sides folded up...

For the end folds, the cut was started using a .035 cutoff wheel..

Both ends complete, and frame holes have been piloted. Once checked to the hole spacing on the frame they can be drilled out for the 3/8 bolts.

  23. Maybe you could start a build thread and leave this as a picture thread.

Awesome idea for the battery box. I think I'll steal it for my build. :)

My newish project- bought as an unfinished project. The P.O. also took this photo, so it already looks a bit different.

5.9L w/46rh tranny, updated suspension & steering, 4 wheel discs. Going to be my everyday driver if I ever get it done.

Thanks, I would like to have the truck rebuilt primarily for sentimental reasons, it is more than just a truck, sort of a member of the family

We just finished our 3rd makeover on Batfink since 2012 when we bought it! Super stoked on how it turned out, it was a major! We had it completely dismantled and off the road for roughly a year and a half.
