Has anyone built a car solely for the purpose of racing TROG ??? I am not talking about old time style hot rods entered in this event. Pictures of cars that do good please. I suppose I will get pictures of old time hot rods. That's OK.

Yep, guys most certainly do. One name that comes to mind is Ray Prue. He's a HAMBer (onekoolcat).
He built (in my humble opinion) one of the sickest cars to ever grace this planet. A single seat racer he named D-Fender....because he hand made this masterpiece using fenders. There's a complete build thread here on the HAMB. I still think about this car often. Still kicking myself for not buying it from him. You have to read the build thread...you will fall in love with the D-Fender

The following year Ray built this belly tank racer. He also had a build thread here on the HAMB.

It's becoming more and more common for guys to build cars specifically to run at TROG. I hope to do the same.

Ray built these cars for TROG, then sold both after the race. The belly tank went to Milan, Italy. The D-Fender sold and the current owner is really cool.....maybe some day...

Jeremy Bayne built this flathead powered roadster to race at TROG. I believe the first year he ran the car on alcohol or some other race type fuel.

Look up other threads on the subject.
It’s best if you build within the rules. But don’t be hurt if you don’t get picked after all your hard work. A lot people sign up and get turned away without reason.

On the west coast we have a couple other events that a builder can enter to run their car without such hard rules.
    Best of luck to you.

Bought a stocker just for the sole purpose to turn it into a Hot Rod and race it down the beach in Jersey.
I had a limited budget, so I built it as fast as I could afford.
Now I drive it as much as I can on the street.

    Video here ........watch

not to hi-jack a thread but I built a car back in 2007, at the time just to see if I could do it and to pay tribute to my late uncle. once done I had no where to run it and after showing it locally I ended up selling it to a guy in NY to pursue a vintage midget restoration. At the time I finished it Mel was into and running his vintage bar/drag racing gig up at englishtown raceway and had not started TROG. I remember telling him it would be cool if he set up some vintage racing on E-towns road course so car like it could come out and run (meaning me). now I look back and wish I had kept it and had fun on the NJ sands with mel. wish I had insight into what he was thinking at the time Mel is always thinking. it was fun building it and I encourage others to try it its very rewarding to build something from nothing.
