I bought a working 400 trans from a guy (i saw it actually motivate the truck prior to buying it), and when i got it in my truck i noticed it didnt have park. Is this a cog inside the pan problem, or something hydrolic? Seached but didnt see anything on this. Thanks

Not too sound like Mr. obvious, but is your linkage adjusted right?

Without the linkage hooked up and sycling through it won't work.

Can i do this without going behind the pump, ya know from in the pan. Or is it a major fix?

i have snaped a few park pins off but i have never fixed one, i usely just use the e-brake, maybe if you have to pull the valvebody you should slip a shift kit into it.

  6. Hip,

Yea, you can just cycle the lever by hand. IIRC push the top all the way towards the bell housing. Then give the output shaft a turn, it should click and lock it up.

You can also look at it (I think) by pulling the tail shaft housing.

I'll go home tonight and look at one I have sitting out and give you a picture.

Parking "pawl", its a small lever/pin that could have broken by shifting the car in park before a standstill.

  8. I didn't take a pic cause you can't see jack squat from the tail housing end.

    Sorry,
    Thom
