I know this is probably a dumb question, but what make some folks posted photos go to red X???

 

Hello,

Most red Xs in a small box, where the photo would have been placed, are gone from the files of the HAMB. But, more importantly, they are missing from the web access from the thread post person's files. Why? Well, they may have just quit the HAMB and took their photos with them. (like the bully on the playground taking his basketball home when he leaves the game, when we were kids)

Or for the most part, they may be active, but the photos no longer have a presence from the web server to your files. If the title was changed on the photo, the original title and link are severed. So, it goes to the blank and red X.

EXAMPLE: 1960 LIONS A ALTERED COUPE
From the advanced photo changes or alterations, the exact photo was saved as "1960 Lions A Altered coupe (2)." But you and the HAMB are still using the original computer listing for the original title. The dreaded Red X appears, and you may not know it unless you still have the original posting listing.

Sometimes, it is easier to just delete the original X photo and replace it with the same one that has been adjusted for clearer viewing.

The odd thing is, sometimes there are cases that the thread post person is still active on the HAMB but, somehow that person may have deleted his/her own photo used for the story. When I have cleaned out my photo files, if I do not want the photo, it gets deleted. But, in our hasty deletion, the original photo from many years ago on the HAMB may show up as a red X. Computers are specific and have simple rules for posting as well as saving photos. YRMV
