Most of exhaust welding done in my years as a mechanic was a torch and coat hanger wire , your work uniforms were delivered on weekly . I knew old time pipe welders that would weld pipe joins with a torch and steel welding rods , and say to me “ kid when you can do this your a pipeline welder ! “

^^^^ Yeah, that was me and my girlfriend at B&W Resort west of Lodi, Ca. on vacation. 800 miles round trip with no upholstery except the seats, no carpet, no music, no side windows, she was a trooper. That was about my 4th or 5th set of headers, back when I thought the "basket of snakes" look was cool.

    It's a whole lot nicer than Milner's.

  16. You can’t do this to me! I was framed I tell ya, ya gotta believe me! I did NOT pass gas just so we could go home.

I’ve always liked the graffiti coupe, it just needed a taller grille shell/radiator and a couple other little tweaks to be really “boss”.

Milner's Coupe, with it's imperfections, was in reality, closer to cars of that period, than My buddy Ernie Martin's Deuce. It was the only one, without flaws in my town. IMG_5617.JPG IMG_5618.JPG

That is nice. I have a real nice set of those hubcaps. I was going to put them on my ‘31 sedan but I never did, they are still hanging from the rafters. They look pretty good on that car.

It was Fiesta Red, and it was very nice. Ernie sold it in late '59 for $1600.00. He was a newlywed and needed furnishings for their house. I met him much later, in 1983, we built cars together for 37 years, he taught me a lot.
