Yes. Here's another view, with Darryl Starbird(?) next to Roth.
Sure would love to have the tape that they are recording.
It's probably on u tube then.....
Just looked, quite a few videos of Spirit of America, but not the one I remember. The one I saw was a major Hollywood style production 20 or more minutes long as I recall done by Goodyear or Shell Oil or one of his other sponsors. Showed a lot about the construction, not just using the car. Here are a couple good ones.
I never realised that Ed Roth so so physically big, you can see in this picture that he is bigger than the other fellas. Ive read he was a big bloke but never saw a picture with others in it to make a comparison. I just googled how tall he was 6'4", wow.
Maybe he shot hoops in school.....
Is that 1932 Ford 3 window coupe from Maryland ? It looks like the coupe owned by the person that was involved with Super Stock and Drag Illustrated magazine, and later became the president / owner of B & M. I can't think of his name. I did sell him an original B & M shifter that was to be used as a display at their headquarters.
They sure called him Big Daddy for good reason! Somewhere there's a HRM pic of him with 2 heaping plates of food at a banquet.

Yes, very quick car on an unprepared country drag strip
The explanation is interesting, but hey it wasn't needed.
Gonna end up with some leftover parts...
