I don’t know about the ‘27 T in the foreground but that is the Tony LaMasa channeled ‘32 and it sure looks like the Bill Woodard/ Neal East Deuce in the background.

    Hello,

It must be just something we did as little toddlers back in those huge Buick, 4 door sedans or old cars that had the package trays in the rear window areas. It was just a perfect size to take a nice long snooze, before we asked… “Are we there, yet?” Safety rules? Those huge metal cars were very big and gave all of us the false sense of security when going on road trips. “Get in the back, kids…” lock the doors and off we went into oblivion.

For the two brothers, we took turns taking naps on the road trips to the Baja Mexico coastline and up into the Sierra Nevada mountain ranges. Those huge Buick Sedans were rolling play areas that kept us busy and not bothering the driver…our dad. (Rolling play areas and big areas for displaying our outstanding food supply from our mom, too)

As much fun as it was, if it happened, on those days, we were 50 lbs. worth of a projectile ready to fly forward when the emergency braking took place. Slight braking caused us to just flop down into the huge rear seats. But, we lived to tell another story on another day, 71 years later…

Memories of those naps were just the ticket on the road trips... Thinking about them makes me want to take a nap...and I just now, woke up. Old age does it again.

  8. HA!

Back before there were regulations, we took the 7 of us (my grandparents, parents, 2 sisters and me) on a day trip from Kiel, Germany to Legoland in Denmark in Opa's Beetle- I rode in the package tray over the engine :D!

We also took my oldest sister from Philly to Syracuse for college in Dad's '71 Impala 4 door hardtop- Heidi and Susie sat facing each other on the back seat and I rode in the footwell with a pillow and a couple blankets
