  4. George Gonsalves, a member of the Carbs hot rod club in Hartford, Connecticut. That picture was taken when George was 16 years old. He is now in his late 70's and still has the 1940 Ford coupe.

    Joe Manes 33 willys. He ran the local speed shop in Torrington, CT. Blown bored and stroked 392 hemi, B&J 3 speed trans.

    His speed shop was located at 51 water street right across from the church we attended as kids and i would go peer into the windows and check out the mechanical goodness only to find myself a customer years later.

    My uncle's shop - Ferguson Auto Service - was right next door to Carl's Hollywood Muffler shop. What I never appreciated until I looked at that pic again was that Carl's was also a British car repair shop.
