Torqueing down intake bolts on aluminum head... 25 ok??

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by alpo, Feb 24, 2012.

  1. Tried to do a search but could not find anything. Putting a new intake on a chevy 350 with aluminum heads and wondering if 25 ft/lbs is ok. That's what the Edlebrock instructions say to torque them but doesn't say anything about being stock or alumunum. I presume that it will be ok but want to check for a opinion first.

  2. I always pull 'em down by hand. But if you must torque as long as your bolts don't bottom you shouldn't pull the threads at that torque spec.

Thats what they are supposed to be torqued to. You'll be fine, if the threads strip at that torque spec your heads are not up to snuff to begin with.

  4. Yeah, that is what I was thinking but always good to check. Thanks.
