Pepmuller and Muravez? Pepmuller used to race for a friend of mines dad back in the 60's early 70's. The car was a Ford Topolina with a HEMI of coarse. They raced nothing but HEMI's. They were sponsered by Magic Muffler. Bill Frontudo was another driver of that car too. Muravez, went by the nick name of "MAYTAG MAN" since that is what his job was. Maytag service repair. I would see Ivo' 4 engine pontiac all the time in a see through trailer off of Beachwood street in Burbank while riding over to The Miles' residence back in my days! Great memories! I will try and get pics of their car that they raced at a later time. That thread was awesome!

  14. Mr Rat,
Really enjoyed the post...wonder how in the world that quick change held up to that sort of abuse?...What a car!

  15. really cool - I wonder who came up with the idea to mount 1 blown engine? Pretty wild stuff - you'd have to have balls to drive that thing.

I can't believe the little axles held up.

  16. Great link...that pic of the the car off the end of the track brought back memories of Ivo & Prudhomme showing up at a podunk 1/4 mile strip north of Charlotte (Concord NC ,very near where Lowes Motor Speedway is now) ,towing the Twin Buick rail with that very same Caddy ...I remember it all ,including the luggage carrier on the roof of the Caddy!!! They made some wild, smoky exhibition runs and the place went nuts!!!

That is a shot that he told me that the whole bottom end went through the block. Had a cracked block and they found out right at the starting line. It is a famous shot that is in like the Hot Rod anniversary issues all the time. He told me that he was at 1st not liked being known for that pic. Now he laughs at it. He has that pic and many more when they have their Burbank Road Kings annual show set up and he has all his pics displayed with all the other Road Kings pics from the past. KNUX!

Thanks for the awesome link. I love those vintage photos, especially the shop pics. The offset halibrand is wild, they must've had boxes of extra axle keys. I want a El Camino painted just like that one!
