Today's parts run. 58-62 261 Chevrolet 6 cylinder! It was very refreshing we had made arrangements to meet at 8:00 A.M. and when I got there at 7:47 A.M. the engine was on a chain and the engine and transmission oil were being drained!
Yes sir! I am going to do it as a full on race 292 stroker for my Model A stock car. The current engine is a stock bottom end rebuilt 261 with a Isky street stock oval track grind cam and a ported and polished 848 head. That engine will go in my track roadster build and serve as a backup if needed.
You know, 20 some years ago we proposed a HAMB style vintage Stock car class similar to what the HA/GR dragsters were. I know @SamIyam and Mike Bishop were into the discussion. My .02 was that EVERYONE in the pits had to wear traditional whites. These days in the pits at most tracks it looks like a bunch of bums and homeless in the pits.
