  1. Alright everyone here is my thing...

my 53 has the original, off the factory line paint on it,
it doesnt look bad for 58 years old, but it doesnt look as shiney or amazing as the cars sitting around it at shows...now i know thats not what it is about but idk iv always been curious what others think.

for those of you who dont know already, (iv told like everyone this story but illl say it again) it was my grandmothers first car which was bought for her brand new, she kept it in the garage for evvver and on my 17th birthday had it towed up to my house for me to work on for my first classic car. It sat in her garage from 1971 till almost 2 years ago already. (that was the year of the tag on the license plates.) anyways for my christmas my grandma had a bunchhh of chrome work done for me from sherms in sac and it looks sooooooooo amazing.

its hard to see in the pictures, i can try and get some closer shots to put up, but there are a few scratchs and dings, (and very very small amount of surface rust i must add) on the body but nothing too serious.

They only have original paint once! It may have "character", but it's a 58 year old car! I'd personally leave it as long as possible - it has great presence as is with the wheel/tire combo and bright chrome.

  6. I will help.
    No paint please!

    Thats a big, resounding NO!

  10. A good PDR guy can get the ding out of the door. Other than that and a good waxing I'd leave it alone.

what are the moral and ethical views on clearing it for preservations sake?

Thats a nice ride man. I would only be concerning myself with how to keep it that way forever.

dude, that's a really nice looking car! tough decision, i know, been there with the merc in my avatar, had original paint, but faded to a pinkish color, couldn't live with it anymore so i bit the bullet and painted it. like others say, it will never be original again, but you will know when it's time.
