Hot Rods Tired of homogenized hotrods

  1. And your model looks better than the real thing! HRP

  2. Funny I never wanted to be different than anyone else, problem is I am only good at being me and my cars are just like that they come out how they do. Like me they are always one step behind and a little off to one side. :D

I'm with you Beener, I don't try to be different, but my cars tend to be a bit out of the mainstream. 36 Dodge roadster pickup, 32 DeSoto grill, AND it does have a flathead for the traditionalists.

  5. Out of curiosity what are those wheels? They are pretty cool lookin wheels for an old heap.

I added the nerf bars and the final plan is for bobbed rear fenders. The idea is a crappy Chevy truck interpretation of the Lloyd Baken coupe. The nerf bars I built were a direct rip from that car.

To find original uniqueness and creativity, I like to look at the earliest hot rods like these ...

I think road runner and Robert are getting what I'm after here. Not ground breaking new ideas but build styles and parts that are totally traditional just seldom seen on new builds. Cycle fenders , one off track noses , nerf bars, clear hoods ect....

  13. R-R; Ya I got it then. In this Hot Rod game you gotta have broad shoulders and a sense of Humor to keep things in perspective. That's where Tie Die comes from instead calling it a M Blanket. When all this Era Correct conversations and it is or isn't this or that come up I can't help but remember my Dad and the Fit he had back in the 60's when I drove home my New 32 3-w. He said "I told you No Damn Hot Rods, I know a Hot Rod when I see one". My defense was to tell him it couldn't be a Hot Rod, it still has a Flat Head in it. There's no denying what's as plain as day.

Nothing epitomizes the absurdity of "me-too"ism, like hiding disc brakes behind fake drum brake backing plates or inside dummy drums. Though I risk the scorn of the cognoscenti by even mentioning such a thing...
