    Hey guys,

This will be my first weekend since I brought it home to work on the '51 Ford (8BA Flathead). I all ready rebuilt a carb. And I know the engine turns nicely with a wrench.

    OK a couple of questions,
    1. You guys say NGK spark plugs are the ones to use, but which number? I am running the 6 volt positive ground if it matters.

    2. What weight oil should I use? I know 4 quarts + 1 for the filter.

    3. Is there a special coil to be used or will any 6 volt coil do?

That is it for now, tomorrow the FUN begins!

    286...anyone?

I need to know what kind and model number of plugs you use. I just serched all the local parts places and Farm stores and can't find the plugs that each of their books say is the ones I need. Someone must know. [IMG]

I really want to make some big progress tomorrow, please help!

This is from the NGK website. I believe the word "standard" signifies that it isn't a multi electrode or platinum, or any other gimmick model. Write both the stock and part numbers down, some places only use one or another.

    Standard Spark Plug
    Part # B6L
    Stock# 3212
    Plug Gap = .030

Well I found some Autolite 216's and that is the best I could do on a sunday in Green Bay. I got a coil. The only thing I needed to improvise on was a fuel line between the fuel pump and the hard line. I just had to find a couple of brass fittings and some new rubber.

My buddy Todd (lurker) came over and we rebuilt the pump this morning, installed the volt regulator, new thermostats, installed the oil pressure sending unit, and taped up a bunch of mouse chewed wires.

Tomorrow we are going to redo the distributor and install the new radiator and fire that bitch up!!!! [IMG] [IMG]

Man I can't wait to get this thing running!

    Houston we have a problem....

We had it running for about 5 seconds. There were some timing issues and we are having major fuel pump issues! At first it worked great and then it just stopped pumping. I think I will be ordering a 6 volt electric one from Speedway. Where can a guy get a fuel pressure regulator?

So the short answer is that it will run soon [IMG], but isn't running yet. [IMG]

    Later,

You can find a fuel pressure regulator at Summit Racing.

Wonder if he lived up to his name and found top dead center when setting up the initial timing?
