The stainless is still good on that Nomad...and the Dodge is WHY I'm glad I live in ColoRODo...rust does not equate to living here...found this one about 40 miles from my home-has been sitting since 1966...(and sorry, it's sold and gone already)...

I think you could tug at most of the stainless and have it fall right off in your hand :)

That Nomad breaks my heart. There are a few cars I have longed for all my life and never wavered. That's at the top of the list. Sierra Gold too..

I'd save that nomad. Maybe use it to help convert a regular wagon into a nomad. Lot of work but it'd be fun.

If you think that Dodge is bad, you should see the stuff around here. I've fixed worse cars then that, and driven them many 1,000s of miles afterwords. Gene

Jim Sibley would have it running and driving in a week! I always thought some cars were to far gone until I saw his resurrections.

You never know where your car will wind up when you leave this earth. There is a guy in town with a 69 442 riding around in the salt. Complete idiot. It won't be long before it starts to rot .It'll go to another owner is going to restore it but never does. Then it winds up in the sitting and rotting section

Yep, then all it needs for another life is someone to love it that has a vision and the determination to build it to that vision. Gene

I like to think of myself as a preservationalist. I hope the work that I've done future generations can enjoy. Like to make it easier for the next owner. I don't take my vehicles out in the salt and when I do my repairs I use the most powerful industrial coating systems there are so if it does wind up in the woods it will last quite a while for the next guy to bring it back to life.

When I first had my 54' chevy tore down to the bare body, I started working on it but gave up thinking it was too far gone. I let a friend haul the body away for scrap metal. Then a couple years later, guilt got the better of me because it was my first car and I went out and bought another body to put all the pieces back together with. It's better in some ways, but still pretty rusty and I wish I had kept the first body.

It taught me that old auto body dosn't belong at a scrap yard. It can either be saved, or help save another body, but shouldn't go in the melting pot IMO. If it really was "too far gone," it would'nt be worth anything to the scrapper anyway. Just give it a proper burial.

  27. I bought this 53 ford 2 dr for $5. My wife was with me when I went to get it. Debbie offered to pay me $15 to leave it there. It had some really good stainless. That was sold. still some pieces left. rusted away 008.JPG rusted away 009.JPG rusted away 010.JPG rusted away 011.JPG rusted away 012.JPG and the air box hood hinges where good. Ive sold about $500 worth of parts off of it. Still has the pedals & linkage. Transmission and rear end and some good glass.
