We're some Thermador swamp coolers originally painted dark green, almost a olive drab color?

I have seen a bunch painted hammer tone silver, but none green. I just got a green one and am just wondering.

this might be the hammertone brownish color? My brother had this one for a little while, used it on the Edsel adventure.

I've had a few over the years and Allstate were green. Thermador were similar but lighter in colour. Here are examples of both to show

Wow, you guys are the best. Mine appears to be darker green, and appears to be unrestored with original decal and paint.

Here's a few more NOS Thermadors I have, hammertone silver and gold. Firestone, Allstate, Thermador, Coronado all seemed to be the same, either clamp on model or with support rod. Some had the external 12v motor. I've a few NOS dash and floor mounted coolers as well. I seem to collect these and other period correct odds and sods over time.:rolleyes:o_O 20161103_174947.jpg Therm1.jpg

I've seen that colour before and I've had a few makes and models over the years. One way to tell, original decals were thin water slide and reproductions are thicker vinyl that are readily available now. Not saying that it's not genuine but I've only had mainstream colours; green, silver and gold.

My decals are very thin and are the old school type of decals. Thanks for the info.

Can you explain how do these things work? A pic of the original instruction sheet would be cool too.

    Thanks.

Didn't they get packed with dry ice and they were mounted on a front roll up window. the speed of the car created the evaporation over the ice and into the cabin is what I remember but it as been a long time. They were better than nothing but not very cold.

    Hey Nugget.
Were any of these Thermador coolers painted black? My dad had a cooler on his big, black, 49 Buick Roadmaster. He had it for a month or so and my mom told him to get rid of it. It was mounted on her window and always dripped water on her door. It also brought in moisture that hit her first. She did not like that thing and my dad had to get rid of it. On hot days, it did cool somewhat, but after all, it was only water with the wind blowing over it. Once my dad did put ice chunks inside and that got a lot cooler, but it leaked all over the car. When we stuck our heads out of the back window on that side, we always got water drops on our faces.

At least your car runs and goes. It'll be a while I think. This my NOS cooler, display only. 2011-10-09 10.01.37.jpg

I've had more of these than you guys want to know, and I can say with 100% certainty that someone painted it that olive green color later down the line, nugget32. Maybe they taped off the decal idk, but there is also a guy that makes the original type water slide decals for these.

Your cooler was either a copper, silver, of gold hammertone from the factory, no other colors were sold by Thermador. Another company called Coronado made green ones in the same shape, but the filler cap is in a different spot, same with the Allstate brand coolers.
No maker ever sold any in black originally!

ALLSTATE unrestored, they are also shorter than the Thermadors

Some early ones had red lettering

If any one has one like this that is stamped "Lindy's" on the back panel, I would like to buy it. I sorta collect these, I can't really afford to keep too many around, but for this one I'll make an exception.

    Hi guys,

I know this thread is fairly old, but I've just managed to get my hands on what I think is a Thermador. Can anyone confirm? It's not got Thermador on it, but has the same shape, filler etc and has a 'cool' decal. It needs a bit of work, but they're like hens teeth in the uk.

Glad I managed to persuade the previous owner to sell it to me for a steal then! Just haven't seen them with that decal on before.
