I seen online the Tom Hoker '40 Ford is being restored. The same car that was in American Graffiti In white with purple graphics is now being restored in blue. https://www.hagerty.com/media/car-p...OVUQ_1sTjQw6YNlX8BU2xWyM4mFxR8KyGVIY8DjRyuY1Y It was in the Nov. '58 issue of Car Craft. (Top)
That is one of my favorite 40 Fords. It looks great in Blue. I was a kid in the Oakland area when that car was being put into the Oakland Roadster Show wearing it's White and Purple paint job, ( I was entering custom Bicycles into the Oakland Roadster Show at the time) I knew the owners then. I didn't know the history of the car at that time. I was surprised to see it show up in American Graffiti, without the internet info didn't flow so freely, so we didn't know the movie was being filmed. If I'd only known then what the history of it was, it might be mine today.
I really liked it when it was blue. I’m glad to see they went back to it. I love quad headlights on chubby fendered cars and trucks, and these are perfect! That is one car that is just so right in my opinion. As Anthony Myrick would say, “I’d drive that”. Only I would have to add, With a big old shit eatin grin on my face!
My old pal Ed Hagerty of Deal Auto Wreaking and the owner of the Deucearri and the Buddy Ohanesian 40 Merc, from the Bay Area was restoring the car. I believe one of his sons inherited the Hocker 40 in a half restored state and was planning on finishing the restoration.

It's great to know that someone has the resources and passion to bring this '40 back to its' former glory.
