I am major bummed! Loved BB, he was the best. Saw him in person several times at Hampton Beach. I have always felt the blues and hot rods were a perfect match, Uncle Max

He was the blues to me growing up. My dad introduced me to his music as a pup.
I was fortunate to see him a few times, many years ago and he was amazing. Godspeed sir.

A friend of mine, who plays blues, went to a B.B. King concert in Little Rock years ago (1980s). After the show, people surrounded the bus as B.B. signed autographs. Long line. After a while, B.B.'s entourage said they needed to call it a night. Everyone left except for my friend who really wanted to get an autograph. So he sat down right there at the bus door. After about 45 minutes, someone opened the door, saw Joey and asked, "What are you doing here?"
Joey said, "I really would like Mr. King's autograph." So they got him on the bus. He met Mr. King, who asked Joey, "Do you play the blues?" Joey said, "A little bit." So Mr. King handed him Lucille and said, "Show me what you've got." And then other musicians, including B.B., joined in and played for about a half hour. Joey said he will never forget it. And he got the autograph.

I am a pastor and, as part of my job, officiate at weddings. When people ask me "How much?" I say, "Get me some B.B. King." I have a nice collection! :)

  15. Aww...damn. I saw him a couple of times at concerts and had "sammiches" at his place in Memphis. This bums me out, but the music lives on. RIP Mr. King.

  16. Sad to hear. :(

He was and still is one of the greatest to have ever picked up a guitar.

Many hours spent just listening and and just being consumed by the songs and stories of a great poet!

The cool thing about the blues is that EVERYONE can relate. Everyone has had their heart broken, or been down on their luck, or put down, or passed over...
But when you hear the blues you realize that we are all in this together and somehow it makes you feel better!

And when they are played by a master, it can make you feel GREAT! R.I.P. B.B..

I won tickets for the last time I saw him. They brought out an easy chair and he just sat there and played. Then he'd stop in the middle of a song and tell a story, then pick it right back up. It was like an evening with Grandpa.

Some may view this as OT, I do not.
BB King will be thrilling the world for many years, long after the current music styles have faded.

Saw him play in Germany when I was in the military and I've never been to anything like it since.

Great show but the truly amazing thing was the crowd. Everyone from granny and her walker, a Vespa gang, a biker gang, punks with purple mowhawks, at least 2 catholic priests followed by a flock of nuns and everything in between were all in attendance.

    RIP BB.

Personally, I can't wait for most of the current music styles to fade. You got it right DDDenny.
