we went looking for Ice cream last nite and got talking to the folks that own this house, turns out they had only moved in about 3 weeks ago and it was one of the oldest properties in Cuba circa 1880...they were setting about restoring it as it had sat empty for over 30 years.................oh and no we didn't find anywhere open for ice cream........nor breakfast today (Monday) either ...............:(

Here's The Mother road again........the surface varies a lot from pot holes you could loose a car in to smooth tarmac...

Greetings from Springfield. It's a bit surreal to watch you take this journey as I drive some of 66 every day on my way to work, and see some of the same road marks you've photographed on a regular basis. It's very cool to see the mother road through your eyes.

    Great reading your posts. Thanks.
I have a son living in the Tulsa area and try to hit the Route when I can. Lots of good road and interesting sites between Springfield and Joplin.. Just past Springfield near Halltown is a very good stretch of road with lots to see. Stop by and say "HI" to Gary!!! You can't miss him.
    Enjoy your trip!!!

  8. Awesome! You are living the dream.

    Two questions though.

1.) What kind of vehicle are those exhaust manifolds from/part number.

2.) What brake booster/master are you using?

Thank you so much! And happy motoring.

Late yesterday (Sunday) we started to hear noises that shouldn't be there, so pulled into the nearest Hotel to discover to power steering pump was dry, made some calls back to Ryno and a few hours later Chris (Roothawg here on the HAMB) arrived with his trailer, toped off the fluid and tried to see what was up, after looking at the options as it was now dark,we decided to take the car to a buddy of his (Bruce) to get a better look with some light and a jack, after several hours it was a no go......the rack looked suspect..........decision time........get the car back to Chris's shop in the morning (it's now close to midnight)....

drove out to the shop (am)... Chris took the day off work specially to help out, !!....we made some calls, Chris took us to O'Reilly's to buy a new Rack..... so with rack in hand Chris fitted it and we were set to go...

.......it's now lunch time so after being treated to lunch we were OFF........:)

this is where it goes from it sucks to it FUCKING SUCKS.............the 'new' part fails after about 25 miles down the road..........I pulled into and auto shop, we put it over a pit and it's leaking in a different place from the original (NEW) rack..........so the 'new' refurbished part is shit as well...seal gone.......

more calls to Ryno/Chris..........take the car to Brent (POOCH) at J.A Luper &Sons........in Yukon OK.....

so we meet Chris at Brent's shop, thanks to Ryno there is now a replacement for the original rack from JW Rod Garage being overnighted to us,...............

so the REALLY GREAT part of the day is We both got to meet some generous and amazing, kind people who gave up their time to help us out...................the HAMB is just an awesome place

    Viv La HAMB.................

Nice work by the Okie boys once again.... I have that same shot of my car on the lift in Chris's shop only it was taken about midnight in June, the night before the Hot Rod Hundred.

Hope the rest of your journey is smooth sailing and that you continue to meet folks as good as the ones you have encountered so far..
