Art- the grape looks fantastic...I love that car!

Scott- that hood will look great in my rear view mirror... That bump in the hood will help hide your frown after the Okie Doker Lakeshore Smoker destroys the Lakeshore Sharter

The only bump in your hood is gonna be from when that old mouse of yours pukes a rod out and the shrapnel dents it from the inside...

......Cause you're never gonna see the front of my car unless you stop by in the pits for a look at it while I'm having a nap or something. ;)

Porting another set of heads to replace my current junkers on the new motor.....guess the casting was a little thin, cause I found a pushrod tube:(

Guess I'll be re-using the old heads. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1410639515.302542.jpg

Funny you asked it was a running car tell I got my hands on it. I do have a thread going on it around here somewhere. ( not sure you to show the link to it in my post)
It started with a pass 409 2x4 engine with mismatched heads seems like I just can't get away from this no mater what I work on. The plan was to install a set of nice reworked 690 heads with oversized valves and nice port job but when I test fit them the exhaust valve hit the combustion chamber in the block.
So now I have a nice truck block with with some factory 409 H/P pistons that I am trying run this Crower X-210F cam in that now I have the exhaust valve contacting the pistons. Don't ask what my thoughts are about this exhaust valve. Anyway I am in the process of establishing the exhaust valve center line on the pistons so that I can get the cut for clearance.
Man this thing has me exhausted.

Damn Scott that sucks was that the last port or the first?
The title of my thread is 62 409 20 Days to Great Bend KS.
I have been trying to find some 8x28 slicks that I guess they don't make and a spool for rear diff.

I will definitely subscribe to that one!

And it was the second to last intake port on the first head....but I have been jumping back and forth,so I'm about 75% complete on the port work....then that happened.

I'm gonna see if I can press a steel tube in and braze or epoxy it in place.
I have a fair piece of labour into these heads, and I would truly hate to just give up in them.

Chambers all polished, walls laid back to unshroud valves,4 intake ports completely done,8 exhaust ports done,5 intake valve guides contoured, bowls blended, short side radius smoothed out,and all the oil drain backs enlarged, radiused,an polished.

Fuck it.I'm gonna finish them up and take them to my machine shop guy and get some kin of repair for this.:)

    Yeah,I agree.

I will finish them up,then bring them in,as he still has to do the valve job and mill them to get the chamber size back down after I opened up the chambers.

Hopefully this will be a blessing, not a curse, and I can go apeshit porting the rest of the exhaust ports, and just press in tubes(?) to repair any if need be.

Hay guys I have a trophy I slapped together that I would donate for next year.
I will let the meltdown crew figure out if they want it and to where they deem its worthy.

Well have to figure out how to get it up there so someone can paint it up? IMAG0777.jpg

Just picked up some aluminum tube but not very happy with it.
Was looking for brass, but having a hard time finding it.

Any suggestions on where to get some brass tube?

Home Depot was a bust,so I'm heading to my favorite Mom n Pop hardware place....where I should have gone in the first place.

I have had good luck with the ACE hardware stores but not sure if you have them up north.

McMaster-Carr has tons of stuff. For example I got the aluminum piano hinges for the trap doors that are in my dragsters oil pan from them as well as the woven wire screen I used for the oil pickup.

    Thanks Guys!:)

That link you posted has some good thin wall tube in some oddball sizes for all kinds of jobs....there's one application I have in mind where the 17/32 size would be very useful:)

    Thanks again Guys.:)
