This has already been posted on a couple of social group forums. However, it was such a fun day, and everyone who was involved are HAMB members, so it was decided, Hell, why not share it with our friends on the main board. Dirty Old Man (Dave) has been a hot rodder and racer for 50 or more years. He has his shop in the neighborhood in which he grew up. The stretch of road out in front of his shop is the same stretch he used as a test track for hot rods when he was a kid. He was the young hoodlum who was terrorizing the neighborhood in a Ford 3 window coupe with a full house flatty many years ago. Saturday, September 22nd, was a beautiful early fall day, a good day to have friends and fellow club members (The infamous Sock F'ckers) to come over and help Dave finally get his newly built "A" roadster on the road for its maiden voyage. The moral of this tale is that, yeah, it's initially about cars, but it's ultimately about friendship!!! The following photos tell the story in a nutsack ... I mean ... a nutshell. TA ... DA-DA!!! Never fear, the Sock F'ckers are here! Dave directing. "Lights, Camera ... ACTION!" Everybody is hard at work, or hardly working. Perfect teamwork! Hmmm ... tie rod is too long! No problem. Dandy Dave sets that mofo up in his trusty 1942 industrial lathe and whittles that sumbitch down!!! The master machinist at work ....... Rocket Science. Tie rod is back on ... time to set the toe-in ..... Sock F'ckers Front End Alignment Service Department. Question: How many Sock F'ckers does it take to install a cotter pin in a tie rod end? Thrashing dat baby. Gotta make it to the staging lanes in 5 minutes!!! Now for the most high-tech operation of the day ........ .... Installing the shifter knob! I guess this car will always be behind the "8 Ball", as they say ....... Moment of truth! The pilot and co-pilot go through their checklist. ALRIGHT!!! The ol' A-Bone is seeing it's first light. Sounding good, so far. Ol' Dave blasting up and down the same streets as he did when he was kid, terrorizing the neighbors. Some things never change! More terrorizing! 3 PEDLS The Mighty Sock F'ckers!!! This baby will haul the mail! Power to spare. Blip it to half throttle and the rear tires start hazing!!! Overall, the car is REALLY tight and very responsive. Dave is a happy camper. He should be!!! Here's a video of it's first time out. It turned out that the clutch linkage needed tweaking as the clutch was not wanting to fully release. Nevertheless, Dave had some fun ......... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwyW5bzYTjI&feature=youtu.be
I am still trying to figure out how we didn't hit the mail man! Congrats Dave! And thanks Toby for taking the pics. Dave has a lot of good friends because he is such a big guy. I'll never forget that day.
Man you guys did an awesome job!!!! That little dizzy looks alot different than the last time I worked on it!!!
Great stuff and sounding great. Watched your other you tube clip, haha that police cruiser seemed to slow to catch an eye full. Looks like cool place you have there and your all having fun Here's your other clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x174zSo5aM0&NR=1&feature=endscreen
That police cruiser was being driven by a cute police lady. She was flirting with Josh (Tudor), who was driving at that time. Hot rods are chick magnets, even if the chicks are cops!
Great pics! Wish I could have been there. D.O.M. is The BEST! He's been there and done it, and now that his roadster is rolling he's gonna start doing it all over again!
That was a great day, my friends there to help me (help me? hell they took over!). Beautiful roadster driving weather, and even though we uncovered some problemss I've gotta fix, it was a fun day I'll never forget
Congratulations Dave,,those Sock Fokkers are a great bunch of guys,,but I question the "How many Sock Fokkers does it take to instal a carter pin but How many beers does it take 3 Sock Fokkers to install a carter pin? HRP
