Hey John will this build be based on Norwell's art from one of your Acme shirts? I did see a full hood mentioned somewhere though-shame to hide that Nailhead.
I agree that it is a shame to hide the nailhead, but I prefer the look of 32's with their hood sides on; so this car will have them.
Today is the first of what I'm thinking will be a few days of working on exhaust... Patience is a virtue on this shit man...
The full size before pics sure look like tidy car. Till you shared the detail shots, very scary bubble gum welds and all the rest of the uglies. Someone is going hey I was very proud of my work way back when. A huge slathering of filler. Yuk. Just a question though, do the 4 bar nolathane bushed ends on the rear radius rods allow the diff to pivot ok. Just an observation. Great save John , and the huge effort of Rex rod shop.
Keith just sent me some more photos of the exhaust work he did today; so clean and I love that he is keeping it all tucked in the frame. A pet peeve of mine is exhaust that hangs down like a cow's udder; that kills the profile of a car. Not here man, not here.
You ask a good question. This chassis was set up by Walden Speed Shop and Bobby builds well engineered stuff so I assume it will work well. I'll let you know how it does when I go flying over a railroad track or speed bump. As for the save, that is a joint effort; Jeb did the first part (and by far the most extreme amount of work on the body) and Keith is on the second part of saving the body. Huge effort is right. It's nice to know there is one more '32 Ford saved to drive another day.
I don't think you are allowed (some kind of H.A.M.B. law) to say you have more pictures and then not post them.
Hi John: Your coupe is coming together so well. Some fine engineering and detail work. It is fun having the daily report. Not as good as being in Texas but it will do for the moment. Thanks. TEB
I wish I was there to watch it happen....but I have to keep working building signs to pay for all of this progress. I'm right there with you; photos are as close as I can be to it for the moment. I am equally impressed with the details.
Very nice plumbers work. If you ever tried to cut a bent tube square you can imagine what this means. Job well done.
Having done that myself more than once, I know how true that is. But it's a challenge I enjoy. I hate exhaust hanging below the frame...and I like it exiting just under and parallel with the rear horns. My verdict is this one is right!
Ditto Tony. Out of curiosity, what size (dia.) was the bulk of that exhaust built at, and was it just stepped at the headers, or prior to getting to the rear suspension pivot mount? Admire the detail, and appreciate the effort to capture it. Cheers, Drewfus
It's the little bandsaw that could. I put one of those real expensive bi-metal blades on it and it's still sharp as hell... Yeah, at the collector... The exhaust is 2.5"...
Last update for about ten days as I'm going out of town. Passenger side is getting wrapped up now... Unless Keith gets a wild hair up his ass and posts some pictures between now and when I get back, this one will be dark for a bit.
