You mean like too bulbous?? Yes, I like those premiers. I am actually thinking something more like the '52-'53's that are on this... They almost look like a Lincoln version of the sombrero and I like that there is a little color in the center to zazz things up a bit. At any rate, I plan to have several hubcap options.
Hi C1: Just my opinion I think the Lincoln caps look great. They are very much in keeping with all the rounded contours. Great Merc. Nice story! Thanks. TEB
Yeah I guess that's a good way to put it. The bias plies have such a good profile and I feel like those caps push it the wrong direction. I think on a fender less car that they'd read different but on this I cant groove on it. Maybe it looks better from a different angle?
FWIW, I love the Lincoln caps-- both the '49-'50s that you've got as well as the '52s. Was looking at a set of the latter on eBay just recently, but they were a bit too much, so I got a set of '51 Plymouths instead. The Sombreros are great, but everyone runs 'em, do something different!
It's funny you should say that as I pulled the trigger on those '52- '53 caps last week! I slapped them on last night and I really like them. It was too dark to get a good pic though. They have the "zazz" I was looking for .
Yeah, I liked those a lot, it was tough not bidding on 'em! Look forward to seeing them on your Merc!
I had a minute last night to pull the old girl out for some glamour shots with her new caps. I'm liking them a lot!
I don't believe I've ever seen those used before, but they sure look good to me. You may be starting a whole new trend with those.
Yep those radio tars is safer then them biased plys. They keep a tellin me that. I know you need driven tires but if you just need some rollers to get by for a while I got some loaner 15s that will probably hold air hangin on the shop wall. They are pretty dry rotted so you would have to promise not to load mrs. cactus up and take her for a ride with 'em.
Tha's my job to muck stuff up. LOL I like it with the new shoes by the way, I'll wait until I got a ride in it to weigh in on the caps.
Those are the perfect wheel covers! My dream car is a '49-'50 Merc and I had always envisioned "mine" with '52 Caddy wheel covers but I may have to change up my dream a bit
LOL always welcome to what is hanging around the shop, if its something I'm going to use I'll just use it later. Hey I don't think the car needs zaz it already has that it needs pa you know you need to pa it up a little bit. oh wait a minute you already did that so now instead of just plain zaz it has pa zaz. You be stylin' bro.
