Mine is in this mass of pic's somewhere and I miss working with it and giving it some love. Edit: Found it on page (2)
So..................... I've been thinking about, (oh no, oh no):eek::eek: increasing the compression ratio with new pistons. I have no idea what they are now as I didn't do the last rebuild, but I did have the cam reground last time around thatI had it apart, so all that would have to be rediscovered all over again. I do not want to pull the motor, clean the cylinders up as they were good at that point. I'd of course check the inserts and mains, and seals etc. go with new gaskets and all and pretty much just enjoy myself. I'd maybe go with a larger cam also from the same Delta guys here in Tacoma, something streetable to match what they would recommend with the compression ratio choice. I am aware of valve piston clearance ofCourse and wrist pin cautions Now it is your turn for advice to this 85 year old what to do and if it's a smart move. I'd be taking my time; I like building much better than driving and this would most likely be my last time inside this guy I'm thinking.:( Then also I have my back up man, Jim who helped me put this on the road back in '17 and has his own stable of Resto rides, (5), he rents out on the weekends through Hemmings.

  14. This is just a heads up so you can plan accordingly if you should decide to go ahead with this project. If you need pistons that aren't off the shelf parts, you better plan ahead for the looooong lead time. I don't know if things have gotten better in the last year, but last year lead time was between 6 and 9 months.

Thanks for the heads up slayer. My partner in crime at our regular neighbor Saturday morning breakfast asked "Why would you do this to a perfectly tuned and running motor? I just said, "Cause I love It" He said " "Your nuts. This from a guy who has a full stable of rentable Resto rides.
I'm going on line to check into this as I post this now.:)

    1959 Lions Dragstrip SOUND

Versatility in all aspects of hot rods/drag racing/boat racing, etc is something to be in admiration. From Lincoln MEL motors to the twin Hemi motors is a comparison in styles. Not many made the transition from one to another...

twin hemi motors on a hydro hull

    Hello,

One hot summer, we had heard about the Championship Drag Boat Races to be held in the Marine Stadium in Belmont Shore area of Long Beach. We knew where this was due to it being in the hot rod cruising area during our teenage high school years. Although it was in another high school’s proximity, we still drove around when we frequented Belmont Shore.

Then in college, the campus was within a mile or so of the stadium. Back then, the campus had views toward the ocean and the Alamitos Bay that the Marine Stadium connects for ocean access. So, with that in mind, the water’s edge was cooling and the place was packed with fumes in the air. It was like being in the Lion’s Dragstrip pits area with the multiple drag boats motors being fired up for tuning and getting prepped for a run down the normally smooth waters of the Marine Stadium.

Some of the top drag boat racers in the So Cal region and some from out of state were in the competition runs. It was hot and crowded. But, the action in the pits area and in the water were outstanding and well worth the “hot” environment by the water’s edge.

Here is an unusual way to start your 671 supercharged Hemi motor while steering.

Compare that to starting at the motor in various hot rod/drag race, tune up operations.
