I don't know if this news has already been posted, but some of the filming has been done here in Greenwood & Franklin, IN. Local cars have been used as well as our famous The Suds drive-in. Here are some pixs, and for more details just google: The Giant Gila Monster remake

How cool is that? I was just watching it on Hulu. There's a lot of bitchin' rods in the original.
I live about 15 minutes from Franklin.

  3. Didnt that orig movie have some sweet channeled roadsters in it.
    Milner clone in the movie???

  5. That was my thought exactly!

NOTE: You can watch the original movie right here on the H.A.M.B. ... I embedded the hulu version in my The GIANT GILA MONSTER (1959) thread.

  6. that's a great movie, well as far as b-horror from the fifties goes. good car stuff, watch it.
not so sure about the remake.

Most remakes have pretty much flopped sad part is hollywood can't come up with anything new they have to mess with the old stuff. I'm sure it will have some great special effects and all but IMO they should leave it alone.

  8. As a kid I thought the movie was pretty cool and loved this little roadster, so I kinda coppied the paint and color scheme on mine, well it was a black and white movie

Best be low budget....we don't need no stinkin' block buster, CG, epic Spielberg deal.

    Make it with yesterday's technology.

    Wait, we already HAVE that.

  10. I hope that if they use the scene at the drive in restaurant...that they don't forget to erase the website address on the sign post! Lol!
I think they should just leave the original alone.

    Spam much?:D

Some things are best left alone. Part of the fun of this flick was how corny it was.

Yeah, I hit FF a few times in that one. The remake looks like fun. (trailer is in the link posted above) I'd love to use it for a get together with other car guys if I can find it before Christmas.

Looks like they made a hot rod movie and tossed in a monster as an after thought. I'd go see it for the cars. Just like the original.

It looks like fun, I'd watch any movie with cool old hot rods. I've got several of the old ones on DVD myself.

Maybe a new plot is in order, Gila Monster eats a radioactive can of SPAM then goes on a nationwide rampage eating spammers one by one helped by his hero sidekick Dr. HAMB who helps seek them out on his traditional-tech computer.

This is a "remake" or "re-imagine" yes there is a milner clone in it. and the Black 55 looks familiar too... I don't think Falfa had a tank on his though.
