Congrats on making it home (almost) in one piece. What's the temperature out there in the sun today-about 110?

  3. I used to work for a guy in the 60's who would make that repair by "damaging" the hub with a punch or chisel to tighten the race.

Frampton..."Do you feel like we do?"

Great trip and memories, thanks for sharing. My dd/only vehicle is a '49 Chevy 1/2 ton, '56 235, Fentons, '69 3sp+od. Over 100 k on this engine with a few 2k trips. Lots of smiles along the way.

Peter Frampton story: I used to work with a guy (Jeff) who was a grip at some of the studio's in Hollywood. He also used to hang out in a lot of the bars where famous people showed up occasionally. One evening after work Jeff is sitting at the bar, and Peter Frampton walks in, grabs a stool a few feet away and orders a beer. This is in the middle 80's when Frampton's career was nearly in a freefall. Jeff has had a few, or maybe several, cold ones, turns to look at Frampton and says "Hey, do you feel like I do?" Frampton just gets up and walks out of the bar, evidently quite weary of what must have been a comment he heard way too often.

Glympse send the position data to the server using SMS, it is not continuous. Not much accuracy. It's been in the 90s and 100 close to Phoenix, nothing like last Sunday on the way out. Speedo needle dances around about 5 mph and it's a little fast. don't really matter.

Several tapes had the splice break. And we lost an ABBA. Tragic

  11. I figured one squiggle was where you pulled over to pack the wheel bearings and the other one was when you pulled over to duct tape the ABBA tape back together... :p

I think you moved up a place, in a different competition. Third place, two Abba tapes. Second place, one Abba tape, and the winner doesn't have to listen to Abba at all!

If I sell it, I won't have to work on it any more! If not, I'll see about hacking it up. I think hacking it up is a good fate for an Edsel, but you never know, someone might want to save it as an historical object. Although it seems the folks who think we need to save all the Edsels, don't have a lot of cash. Strange how that works out.

Way to go Jim. It's unfair to say but I believe if a person claims to be car guy then they'll let the cards fall where they may. Because it's easy to talk the talk, but can they walk the walk. In this case, you walked it home. :)
