Dang now I want to keep one of mine. But I do need to cut back on the number of untouched projects sitting in other people's yards.

Man I saw that thing at dixie fried this past weekend. WOW. What a sweet ride. It made me want to take mine in a new direction. I'm istalling a Aerostar clip in mine this weekend. Hopefully that will get it low enough.

Here is a pic of mine. This is an old pic so it looks a little different now but not much.

everything is stock up front except for the bags and dropped i-beams, but if i could do it again i would swap it all out. the i-beams are a pain

  10. im run a y-block in my 61 unibody. 4barrel & headers are the only mods and i'm gettin 6.3 miles per gallon! runs a little rich still, but cant figure it out. luckily its not my daily.....yet.

did you modify the beams then to get the drop or do you just have it bagged to drop when parked looks pretty good either way i've been toying with the idea i know someone makes beams called dream beams but their like a grand or more.I know a couple people that swapped in a front section to do it, and a couple that flipped the body of the truck on a country squire wagon frame and that worked out pretty good.

Great thread. I've always loved the 61-66 body style but the 57-60 style has really started to grow on me.

Here's my (rough!) '62 Merc uni:

It's getting a new floor in the next couple weeks. There are a variety of patch panels available for these trucks at the vendors mentioned earlier.

Thanks! The nice-and-low stance in the first pic is due to a flat tire on one side and a missing wheel on the other but I'm hoping to get it that low when it's running. I'll be sticking with the solid front axle.

I'm also going to keep the factory paint scheme, only with slightly different shades. Probably a satin or flat red on the bottom, white pearl on top, and a nice subtle stripe in between. Wide whites, painted steelies, and a 223 inline six for cruisin'... :D

I love my '60. She's daily driven, and this weekend I'll be finishing up her 292 Y-block swap. :D

Luckystrike: did your '65 have twin I-beams? what year did they move to that?

  26. Man, that's hard to read! First thing you need to buy is a keyboard with commas, periods, and other punctuation! LOL

My toy is four wheel drive so it would not have the twin I-beam set up. I'm not sure what year they started that but I'm thinking 60 or later.

Not a fan of the 58 hoods, I've got to say that the 59's are my favorite of the genre.
