I went to Atco Raceway Sunday for some test and tune and left with my personal best. 1st pass 11.94@108 2nd pass 11.93@109 tailgate down. lol
Man that is bad ass!!! Talk about a sleeper! wow! Tell me more please! I havn't seen other post's on what's under it..and at those times i'd love to know. Tony
That's pretty peppy. BTW, years ago the SCCA had a road racing series for small pickups. I remember reading a review / test on one of the Archer Bros. Jeeps and he said that the tail gate position was essentially irrelevant. What mattered the most, aero wise, was the overall rake. Keeping the nose down a little did make a measurable difference in top speed, but only to the point that the windshield was starting to get too vertical. It might be worth playing around with. Have fun, Gary
Was that time with the truck, or the Indian ??? Ha...not joking, that is really awesome!!! Good for you, and one great looking ride! Cheers....
Ok the engine is a stock 350 short block with a 280/480 hyd.cam and a set of s/r torker heads with roller rockers.a performer rpm intake and 750 vac. holley, accell dual point. 350 turbo w/shift kit and 3000 stall original rear 3.90 with welded spider gears original shocks and brakes(front converted to 5 lug) and a edelbrock nos system set at 100hp.
Yep, And Ford found that mileage also was slightly BETTER with the tailgate up. But in the end the use of tonneau covers was mandated for the series to help keep the rear end planted. Also, little known fact, this series is where "Bump Drafting" that is such a part of NASCAR now originally came from!
Very nice. I'm sure thats got to be a very fun all around truck with that set up. I dig it! Thanks for sharing.
that is way impressive, when i was into 5.0l mustangs my best with a 'charged 5.0 was 107. @12.9 (no traction 4th scratch) way to go!!!!!
Jeez, I forgot about that. Those buckaroos were crazy! And they didn't have no stinking rules about where or when you could do it. I wonder if any of those races are available on videos now? Gary
It's always fun to watch this truck go down the track and listen to the response's from the spectators,,,,HOLY CRAP, and the Kid's yelling it's MATER, it's Mater!! Puts a freaking smile on your face...
Geez, now that is haul'n some serious ass. Hard to believe that is possible with that truck, motor and tires. Some kind of miracle hook up on the launch. Impressive.
