Your coupe is slick. I really like the stance and the aggresive chop. How much was it chopped?

Here is a pic of the car I had saved. not sure where I got it, but dug it and saved it.

Yeah I'm a kiss ass too. Big fan here.Started skateing when I was 3 in "66". Last time I skated was a couple of years ago.

After that many years you think I'd be good but the truth is I suck but I had alot of fun skateing.

  5. steve welcome....my son wants to ask you a question.....at his last school he had a teacher from canada who came over to the UK to teach called Miss blake who claims she dated you at some time....true or not or was it just a ploy to sound cool in front of the kids

I heard (from you guys) that he is a skater,,,

the reason I ask is, I teach woodshop... and my students are always asking if they can build a skateboard. I'd love to show them how, but I don't know where to start... I guess I'd need to make a press of some kind... that's easy, but then how do I make the male and female moulds? Where do I get the laminant? What glue do I use? What design should I use??

    Sam.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I built a deck in woodshop in highschool back in 1978, but it wasn't a 7ply, but more like 1 ply with a wedge for a kicktail. I don't think your shop is set up for making decks. and like he said, "i don't make them" ... i just destroy them [IMG]

    skate and destroy!

Thats pretty funny, my dad was a carpenter so naturally i had a homemade board with a wedge kicktail, & only the old farts will appreciate what was bolted to it....green Kryptonics & ACS 651 trucks. That was around 77-78 too....nice hair & nice flares! [IMG]
    Welcome.

  7. You guys fucking kill me, if it wasn't for the fact that he's "The Cab" you'd be all over him for being just another "bought rodder" with a ton of silly questions, but seeing as he is who he is you all can't choke him down fast enough, unfuckingreal.

Welcome aboard Cab, been skating since '78, always rode Santa Cruz boards with Indy trucks, now it's Foundation & Indy, nice looking coupe you've got there, don't let this place get to you

Ummmm... yeah... what's wrong with that exactly? Cab is a favorite person of a lot of people. I, for one, am pretty happy that so many people know who he is here and have respect for what he has done in the past.

Time to get a little shit on my nose..

I used to skate at Powell in Santa Barbara when I was a kid, I remember watching the brigade tearing that place up. There was nothing I wanted more as a kid to be able to ride like that, I would have to say that you were a very big insiration in my life at the time to try and push myslef to you level. Welcome to the HAMB as everyone else has...

Wow, this is awsome!! I have been avoiding this intro post for days like the plague. I envisioned a 77 caddy painted hot rod black with red wheels saying look at my rat rod custom.

I have heard of you mostly from your cross-over in moto cross. I knew you you were a huge skate legand. I have also seen yer coupe in some mags. Right on , wecolme aboard.

How the HELL have I missed this post?? I think God could post an intro and I wouldn't be more excited! Back when I started skating (mid 80's) I was about 13, and when we skated we all pretended we were some famous skater and I always picked cab! (Well, once in a while I was the Gonz...) Wish I still had some of your old decks. (do still have a future primitive Lance, though.) Just want to say welcome. (bowing, walking backwards as I roll out the red carpet... [IMG] ).
Too bad you didn't post an intro before you bought your rod, I bet you could get a car built for free from all these ass kissers here [IMG] [IMG] Have fun, it's a cool place, ryan's a gracious host, and you'll learn a lot. Don't be afraid to post skate pics or videos, either.. [IMG]

I never thought anyone would even know who Doug Henry is. Like I had mentioned, I was really into moto-x, Doug was{is} a hero of mine.

  19. Hey Steve -- I had no idea you were a skate hero when I met you the other day. Just thought you were another good guy with a cool car... my son has since straightened me out [IMG] welcome to the HAMB, hope our roads cross again!

I can't remember the track but in the early 90's Doug Henry did the most insane jump on a downhill and was in a tortoise shell and I think broke both arms.

He was passing McGrath(team mate at the time) when he did it. McGrath let off before the jump and Henry went WFO and landed at the bottom. McGrath later commented that he did'nt know what Doug was thinking but that it was just an insane move.

How could I ever forget D. Henry after something like that.
He is an excellent rider though.

Hey , on that jump doug broke his back. A year later at the same track on a different jump he broke both arms and had spectaters help take off his helmet.

Well hey, looks like it is about time ta head outside and try to show my oldest boy how to skate board. I am still his hero, he thinks I can do anything. Wait until he figures it out, well then he can look up to the Cab!

Welcome to the HAMB Cab. Your coupe is killer. Im not a skater, a big hill a skateboard and some rail road tracks took care of that in my earlier years. Youll like it here.

Thats right. I knew he had a 2 year bad luck streak at that place. I have both those races on video tape somewhere.

Steve Caballero, thanks for the inspiration in both skating and music. Nice Model A thanks for signing up and making your presence known. I have met you at sessions before and you never had a rockstar attitude. I may have been one in a million skate rats that you met at the time, but you always came across as genuine.

    Welcome to the HAMB!

Mike Ness rules!!!!!! he's one O.G. punk rocker and he started it all back in the day for the early punk rock sounds from LA. yea, he got into some trouble with drugs and alcohol, but what rock star hasn't? the dude is sober now and he's on the right track, he's married now with an awesome son and he's still writing killer tunes and has always kept it real and alive in the music scene. people aren't perfect and most all make mistakes that they can't recover from
But Ness has really changed his ways and he's down with his family!

Mike Ness is one bad ass musicain:) and now owns a custom motorcycle shop in L.A. called Black Kat Custums.

  29. Yessiree, the new Social Distortion cd rocks. I'm glad to finally hear something good about Mike Ness for a change...(too much shit thown at him.) Ironically, it came from someone a lot of us old skaters on this board respect. Thanks Cab.

NOW ....to repeat some of the ass kissin, The FACTION was / is one of THE BEST skate-rock bands EVER! Odd Man Out , for me was equally impressive....Showed a wider range on that one. Haven't heard anything past that...

I remember as a kid, when I was around 13 (I'm 31 now) I had one of the funniest pictures of you (from Transworld ...I think) taped on my 3 ring binder...It was a shot of you, lookin rather pissed off and givin the bird to some large, oversized bricks that were in the way of an otherwise very skateable set of brick banks in some business park...or something. I can't even remember how many times my friends and I would come across the same kind of shit....back when skateparks were pretty scarce...at least out here in Denver. Oh man ! finding good terrain back then was like finding the holy grain or something...and then to have some asshole designer put something IN THE WAY ......All I can say is CAB, you spoke for many of us in that picture...We all felt your pain [IMG] ..If I can find it , I'll post on here. (Transworld always had some great photography)

Anyway, glad to have you around Cab!

Just wanted to say welcome to the HAMB. I remember watching you skate at pipeline a couple of times. Your deck was the first new deck I bought with my own cash. Before that I was using a Kryptonics MALBA model.
    Skating since 84.
