I remember back in the day when I used to skate.. a friend of mine shows up at one of the local spots with a newest Powell Peralta Cab deck. I say "Hey, lemme check it out." A kickflip gone awry led the nose of the deck into my crotch! Oh, how I cursed your name!

Had to share... again, same story as many before me have said: You were the influence of MANY an injury in my younger years.

    Welcome aboard!

Welcome and will someone help SamIYam with his Wood Issues. Askin Caballero how to press wood together and make a skateboard is like asking Barry Bonds how to make a Bat. You're funny bro [IMG]

Steve if you're ever in Livermore, CA make sure you go by SamIYam's place; he is the real deal hot rodder in the Gay Area and he'll help anyone who is interested in learning, even his a-hole brother (me).

Funny... but your right, i don't have a clue what kind of Board press's Powell skateboards uses to make decks... i guess i can ask or he can, have him contact Skateone in Santa barbara, that's where they are made:)

As for being in Livermore, CA. I pass by there every thursday to ride my dirtbike at Club Moto:)
does he have a rodder shop there or something?

The Ariel has been in the shop for close to 8 years at Rabers ( still there by the way) in San Jose:(

how do they say over there " the squeeky wheel get's the grease " or something like that. never been much to bug a person to work on something, but i guess that's how they work:(

as for the Beezer, here ya go... enjoy!

Hey man, you probably don't remember me, I used to work for Reggie Barnes at both Eastern Skateboard Supply and Endless Grind. I pimped your gear for years. Met you a bunch up and down the east coast at vert contests, hell in 87 you did a demo in Raleigh and came to a party at my house. Cool beans seeing you on here. Sorry I don't skate you boards but I do wear your shoes..... I still see Ray Underhill all the time since he's working for Reggie here in NC... Welcome aboard... if you're ever in NC PM and we'll go skate "the Chief"

    Scott,
your right... i don't remember, but those are some cool pics and yes... i do want to skate that bowl:)

I just saw Reggie and Underhill at the ASR in san diego a couple of weeks back and chatted with them a bit. they had a big poster in the room of me and my car for a future powell ad and my new skateboard graphic... they were super stoked on it and i'm sure they ordered a few.

if i'm in your area i'll try to hook up and skate that bowl... looks super good, wish it was on the left coast:)

You should make it to the Eastern open house next year, Reggie throws a pretty good party. Last year TA and Olson showed. The bowl isn't that far from Wilmington. I'm going down to skate it Oct 9 and 10th I know Bucky will be there as well as most of the Skatopia hoodlums....

For me it was attitude. In the 80's when skating died there was a hella do-it-yourslef attitude. Close our park, so what, we'll build something, I think Stevie even skated what we built... The Farm Ramp...

    Hot damn!

I grew up riding Powell-Peralta sticks and owned all the Bones Brigade videos. I even met The whole crew one time in Austin at the "Skate and Rock and Roll Expo" in 1987. I still have one Faction record but have been looking for "Dark Room" forever...finally gave up. Know where I can find a copy [IMG]?? Nice wheels man...welcome to the HAMB.

    See y'all down the road.

    Adios,

Never have I seen such an extensive amount of ass kissing to a new guy. Talk about a welcome wagon. I didnt know there was such a big following of skaters and/or video game geeks. I can say that cuz I are one.

oh yah..... YOU KICK ASS STEVE
you deserve all the butt hickies that come your way

I heard (from you guys) that he is a skater,,,

the reason I ask is, I teach woodshop... and my students are always asking if they can build a skateboard. I'd love to show them how, but I don't know where to start... I guess I'd need to make a press of some kind... that's easy, but then how do I make the male and female moulds? Where do I get the laminant? What glue do I use? What design should I use??

    Welcome to the HAMB!

Sam, I built my first skateboard by hand in HS and you've never asked me how to do it! [IMG]

Naw, really, as long as they don't want a concave board, it's pretty easy. And I'm not talking about the cheesey "use a wedge for a tail" trick. I'm talking about a proper tail.

If warm welcomes and cool hellos are considered ass kissing... then so be it:)

I never thought of it that way though, only becuase if you admire someone for what they do and you want to show some appreciation by saying so and how much ...it just shows you have a good heart and your not stuck thinking your the coolest dude around and your shit doesn't stink... being friendly is a good thing no matter who you are or what you've done. I'm just a dude that rode a skateboard all his life and likes hotrods, nothing more. I do appreciate all the nice things said... who wouldn't?

again... i appreciate the cool stories and moments and all the thoughtful comments... thanks a million!

Welcome to the HAMB Steve . Lots of old skaters on here as you are finding out . . . myself included . Do you every speak to Pineapple at all these days ? I have known him for a long time from skating , He used to skate this ditch down by Imperial avenue here in San Diego . It was a little drainage ditch I used to skate alot before I got into parks in the late 70's , just south of the Home avenue skate park , down the 805 next to the trolly tracks . Anyhow I met him there and have sort of just known him for a long timei now . He rides Harleys now and knows alot of the same people I do still . Anyhow my wife works for Tod Swank at Foundation and they were doing stuff with Death Box . . . anyhow , welcome again . Nice to see the old guys are still on point . You will learn ALOT on this forum . I know I have !

I grew up with a couple pretty well known people (Jeff Garcia, Mike Esparza of the mikey show) I can tell you we are all just a bunch of dudes that just do what they love.

However, you run into those dudes who believe their shit smells like roses. You on the other hand continue to just be a dude. SO TAKE YOUR ASS KISSIN AND LIKE IT!!!!

Seriously, one hot rodder to another, the H.A.M.B. is brutually honest. So if your gonna throw some billet on that Model A we'll tell you it looks like crap.

CAB...oh, shit. That's just too fucking cool. Now I can tell people that, "YES, I have seen Animal Chin!" Er...so to speak.

Great A, by the way..needs a Misfits sticker on it to make it really yours (in my 1980's Thrasher/TWS mentality, anyways).

Damn, this is a cool-assed day on the HAMB when it was really needing one.

DUDE, it can't be. The first board I ever had was a Cab street, with boneite. I still have it hanging on my wall. It seems there is proof positive to last weeks discussion, the progression of skateboarding to et al.

    Welcome.

Oh and if you have any pics of those Brits you spoke of (especial el Ariel 4) I being a fellow Brit guy would love to see them.

    Hey there!

I used to have a Faction "cassette" back in the day.

"Let's Go get cokes, cause anything else would make me choke!"" see? hahaaa

Anyway, I was then and still am a fan and always loved watching those old bones brigade videos.

Glad to see you on the HAMB, lots of other crazy skaters on here and the hot rod knowledge is plentiful. There's a fair number of freaks on here, but most of them are relatively harmless. Of course, If you end up with a rash or discharge, see a doctor.

    WELCOME!

I had a faction cassette too. A friend got it for me because the time it was hard to get it on the East. Then the cassette died, only to be found on cd a few years ago. Still listen to it.

Actually I could help him with it. Been around a few different board press shops. After you get the molds made thats the hardest part.
