Never heard of ya...but welcome...I was skateboarding in 1961...made the board from rollerskates and a hunk of wood...went really fast behind my friends ten speed schwinn....then I fell off....switched to gokarts. [IMG]

  2. Velcome!

Don't worry about buying a rod, it's obvious you want to make it your own. I'll be doing the same once my kustoms finished.

    Cheers

*bows - yes I grew up watching you SK8 to*

too cool. welcome from another fan. I'm 26 now and started skating at around 11 or 12, when the bones brigade was still really popular. you guys were my heroes! it was good to see you in the 411's after so many years.
i'm also a fan of your coupe though, nice fucking car!

    Did someone say tits?

  6. Welcome to the HAMB. Good lookin model A and a fine intro. When I read you were a skater born in 64 I couldn't help flashing back to where I was in '64... flashing back now...
Met a new guy in high school who'd moved up to central Oregon from California. Called himself Hobie and he was a surfer. With no surf in the center of the state, he showed us how to build a skateboard from cast-off roller skates and a 2X6. We usta drive to the next town in his 37 chevy sedan and skate on the tennis courts. One day we found Central Oregon Community College....built on a mountain with miles of new, winding, smooth sidewalks! Steep and narrow [with pine trees] but had soft green grass to crash onto....man, I usta love "skateboarding" in the mid 60's on homemade boards!

  7. Your name sounds familiar? [IMG]

Sam, I have a Euro site bookmarked at home with info on pressing your own decks, shoot me a reminder and I will link it.

Saw your coupe at the BP, liked it, welcome Hero. [IMG]

  9. That's cool T-man... I have had kids buy skateboard blanks... but then all they have to do is cut them out and drill the holes for the trucks... I teach at a Middle School, and we have damn near everything to build anything... and if we don't, we can buy it... soooooooooo, if anyone has any info on building decks, I'd appreciate it.

    Sam.

okay, here it goes... my name is Steve Caballero

That's how far I got on this thread before I yelled to a couple of guys at work, "Guess who just signed up on the HAMB, freakin' Caballero!" They both immediatly knew who I was talkin' about.

So, anyhow, Howdy and Welcome from Texas. This is a great place to ask questions while learning about your car.

Post a picture of your Ariel and Beeser. I'd like to see 'em.

  13. Hey there!

I used to have a Faction "cassette" back in the day.

"Let's Go get cokes, cause anything else would make me choke!"" see? hahaaa

Anyway, I was then and still am a fan and always loved watching those old bones brigade videos.

Glad to see you on the HAMB, lots of other crazy skaters on here and the hot rod knowledge is plentiful. There's a fair number of freaks on here, but most of them are relatively harmless. Of course, If you end up with a rash or discharge, see a doctor.

    WELCOME!

Cab, thanks so much for taking the plunge and signing up. Really cool... I think you are going to dig this place - lots of smart folks that are willing to share and teach. And you already know how honored I am to even have ya looking at our threads. Whether you know it or not, you have inspired a lot of people's hot rods for a real long time...

***Hey fellas, remember when I was telling yall that skating was on topic? Told you so.

Well being 55 years old, my first skateboard had metal wheels and was built after hearing "grab your board and go sidewalk surfin' with me" on the radio.

That said, You obviously have achieved a great deal in your chosen sport and regardless of what sport that is it takes a hell of a lot of work and dedication to rise to the top, gets my respect.

    Welcome to the HAMB.

Welcome and will someone help SamIYam with his Wood Issues. Askin Caballero how to press wood together and make a skateboard is like asking Barry Bonds how to make a Bat. You're funny bro [IMG]

Steve if you're ever in Livermore, CA make sure you go by SamIYam's place; he is the real deal hot rodder in the Gay Area and he'll help anyone who is interested in learning, even his a-hole brother (me).
