Today was a short day at work. Got home at 10:30am. The delivery truck pulled up 5 minutes later! The body comes in a nice HUGE heavy cardboard box and is bolted to some 2"x4"s to keep it secure. A good looking over and all looked good. My last concern was damage and it was fine.

The brace that secures the door assembly is secured using nut and bolts. They protrude through the floor of the body about 3/4". When the body is finally ready to be bolted down, these bolts are removed and replaced with self tapping bolts that go into the frame. So in the pics, the body is actually 3/4" higher than final assembly.

    Here we go!

In this pic, the "cool" guy is sitting 3.5" off the floor. Which is my target height for the seat.

The cross brace is 4.5" high and it's 16.5" to the kick up.

    VA-ROOOOM!

Now..... as if the delivery truck wasn't cool enough, Fedex dropped off Rotten Leonards seat braces! Might get a lotto ticket tonight;)

    Here they are.

This is a quick mock up for my bench seat. The cross brace has 2 tabs with a hole in each. These holes will secure the bench seat in the front. I plan to have the bench extend about an inch in front of the brace. I'm doing this for 2 reasons. 1. I plan to have the rear of the bench 3" high, so combined with the angle of the seat, this will set the back of the seat about 1.5" from the rear of the body. 2. With the seat back being away from the rear body wall and at an angle, removal of the seat will be a simple "lift up and out" movement. Here are a couple pics with the rear of the brace 3.5" high or 1" below the front brace.

My seat bottom foam is going to be 3" high, but with webbing installed, I should sit about 1.5" lower than than that. I'll take my final measurements tomorrow and head to Lowes to get the rest of my seat supplies.

Who tha hell is this guy!?

Dang....... can't believe I didn't take any pics with the door open. DOH! Anyway.... when it closes, there isn't a rattle. Just a nice, sold "thud".;) Maybe I'll do a video, instead.

Bro... I've been saving for the body since the build started. Almost 2 years. Tomorrow, I'm going to get the rest of my seat supplies and do some final measuring in prep for the bench seat. The foam arrives tomorrow and has to lay flat a couple days. But tonight, there's a one pound rib eye with my name on it and I'll probably jam the AG sound track, while I sit back and look things over. Sleeping in it is also an option.;)

That's cool Fred. I'm glad it was not damaged in any way. It sure looks nice. Does the door fit nice and tight ? So they hung the door and everything for you? Keep us updated buddy. Bob.................

Tighter than teenage.....! Better not. Yes, it fits tight. There's a rubber piece built into the catch for the door. When you close the door, it presses the rubber piece as it catches. Makes for a really snug fit. And when it catches, that solid, secure "thud", let's you know it's securely latched. I'm glad they hung the door. That's something I probably would have screwed up.

No, I'll smooth the edges and that's it. When the seat is done, only a little of the frames will show. And the side rivets won't be visible, unless the seat is out. Which kinda sucks, because they do look really nice.

It's getting there and I'm REALLY happy with this accomplishment. The body looks high, but it's not fully mounted to the frame and the shocks are at the highest setting on the mounts. I honestly thought the body would be too wide for the rear end and I'd get tire rub, so I raised the shocks and frame up. But it's not even close. I'll still hold off doing any chassis adjustments, until I get the engine and trans installed. That alone will drop it a little.

Looks awesome Fred. Your homework and previous build experience is really paying off. I like the seat brackets and stance of the car a lot. Looks just right to me.
