Well shit bud I'm as mullered up in the head as you are. Ya see, Mrs Highlander is still a bit pissed at me for trading the Model A pickup for the 39 std sedan. I find myself looking at simply older trucks, not so much another Model A unless it was a 28-9 rod with a SBC and automatic. I even started looking at 60s trucks after your accident story as she likes those too. Remember, Mrs Highlander would have the truck. My 39 is a standard and is a favorite from my brain's "keeper" list. I won't post the full list as it's a real mixed bag of stuff but an old truck and the 39 sedan are a perfect marriage. No it's not a hint, not really, just sayin, so I imagine an older pickup, preferably a Ford living with this thing. And I didn't repost my 39 to bust your balls any, just a refresher. No, honestly I didn't. Hey, it's my story so I'll tell it my way right? 031.jpg

  3. I love these trucks..I've had four.
My favorite pickups, Cameos come in a close second (I've had two).
My current one (avatar), I built in my garage, and painted in my driveway..
I never get tired of looking at them, so many different ways to personalize them to your own taste.

A friend of mine just picked this one up.

    Notice anything unusual about it?

@Ryan there is a red '40 that was listed on Rodswapper via IG yesterday. Looked like a nice little truck in So. Cal. Seller was "count_chopula"

I have fond memories of a 40 pickup I used to see at rod runs in the 70's when I was a kid. The owner was a member of the Goldfield Nuggets car club in Iowa, but I don't know his name. A shorter, stocky fella with dark curly hair.

The truck was chopped (you know that sweet spot for 40 pickups when the roof looks just right but not sat on), maroon paint on the body and bed, with a yellowey cream on the fenders. I know it sounds horrible, but it was a masterful combination that I've never seen duplicated.

If I was to ever build my own, it would look just like this one does in my memory.

  15. OK, I'll admit that I've got 40-41 pickup lust on my brain.
And these pics aren't helping. Thanks for posting them; that regal blue one is gorgeous!

Anybody want to trade a 40-41 for a stock, rust free, running Model A pickup? Just thought that I would ask.

    Ryan,
    I ain't finished.
I like 40 Ford pickups and 36 Fords... check the 80th anniversary thread for some of those if you wish.
Ray Evernham called about buying the chopped truck but was too busy to come see it so it went to someone else.
Funny thing is, Ray called while I was on the way to pickup another 40 pickup project in Atlanta! That one is gone now too.

The black one is now being taken good care of in Mississippi. You can't really tell but that lettering is on a magnetic sign. New owner loves it. PatKyle20090308.jpg

Here's a picture I call, "Two old pals."

The one on the right is "Bullet." I built it using parts from 14 trucks and 12 cars!
Bullet is down in Alabama somewhere.

What about the ugly-ducking 46-47 Ford pickups? I've had a cab for several years. It's probably not a bolt-on deal, but that bitch is begging for a '40-41 front clip facelift. Has anyone here done the conversion?

What caught my eye was the Triumph. That's a nice scooter.
